Interview

I believe success is part genetics, but mostly work ethic and a commitment to the process of maturing my golf game. My goal is to ensure I give all parts of my game the necessary attention they deserve, which allows me to be successful and score to the best of my ability. Specifically, I feel most players do not have a strict practice plan and most importantly do not prepare appropriately for rounds. I feel am I different since I recognize that I need to follow my practice plan and ensure I adhere to my pre-shot routines and practice my pre-shot during my range time. I also feel I spend ample time on visualization which improves my ability to score and allows for creativity in my shots during practice and competitive rounds. The combination of my strong mental game and strong focus on preparedness is allowing me to mature my game at a fast pace, which is necessary due to my late start at competitive golf.

Over the past 3 months I realized I can compete and have the ability to score under par rounds, which gave me confidence and helped me recognize my overall potential. My parents and I sat down during this period and discussed my future goals and I made it clear I wanted play college golf and ultimately mature to a level where I can become a professional golfer on the tour. I also talked with a few mentors that played college golf and they articulated how much fun the team atmosphere and overall experience was of playing college golf. During these conversations I found myself getting excited and realizing I wanted that experience.

I enjoy math and science and would like to find a school that could enable these focus areas, which may include an Engineering degree. I’ve had many conversations with my parents also and they both have business degrees from Arizona State University and encourage me to keep my options open as the business degree may be more flexible in terms of school selection. Ultimately, I want to find a school and golf team that fits my personality and work ethic.

I want to become a professional golfer that plays on the tour as a PGA tour pro. I also recognize that a teaching professional is an option and may head down this path, but would prefer to be a PGA tour pro.

My parents have provided me a solid Christian faith as a foundation to make life decisions and my goal is to ensure I utilize this foundation during my travels. I want to make sure I exemplify this faith when making my career and life decisions. This includes what my Dad describes at the 5 Fs. When making decisions it is Faith, Family, Fitness, Finances and Friends.

Goals:

1. Be an example for others around me and lift up Christ.
2. Lift up others and ensure I am a positive influence on my team members and classmates.
3. Take care of my body and develop and strong workout regimen that allows for success and a healthy lifestyle.
4. Make good decisions that allow me to prepare for and find a job that allows me to support my future family and my current family.
5. Surround myself with friends and colleagues that I can impact and will also have a positive impact on my future.

Specific 2018 Golf Goals:

1. Commit to the shot
2. Eliminate one side of course
3. Improve par 5 scoring average
4. Reduce number of short sides
5. Miss on the high side
6. Get putts to the hole
7. Recognize when 3wd is ok off tee
