Upper Iowa University

NCAA D2
Soccer is my passion and my vocation. A life without soccer is no longer imaginable for me.
I would describe myself as a very ambitious, hard-working person for whom organization on and off the court is an important virtue.

Interview

I am a hard-working, experienced, talented player with a strong mindset who can lead a team through tough situations. But what makes me unique is my strong belief in myself.
Back in year six, I struggled at school. My parents went to one of my teachers to ask him if it wouldn’t make more sense to send me to a lower school. He responded that I will be fine cause I am the kind of guy who will fight his way through when he gets in trouble. Since this day I always got this strong belief in myself that nothing can stop me. It´s not always easy and sometimes you have to take a step back, but hard work, a strong belief, and perseverance on and off the pitch always lead to great success! Also, I am coaching several teams (U8 coed, U14 coed, U16 boys, and U19 boys) for Kona Crush Soccer Academy at the moment. The insight as a coach and the change of perspective also helps me to develop as a player one step further. Not to forget that I played with Europe (Germany), Australia, and the united states on three different continents, with different nationalities and different playing styles. all these experiences have made me the player and the person I am today. I can pass on this wealth of experience to my fellow players, which in turn benefits them.

Ever since I was a child, I wanted to become a professional soccer player. At the same time, I regard sophisticated academic education as a crucial aspect of my endeavor. The US College system allows me to combine these aspects. I’m convinced that this combination of physical and academic improvement is the best way to prepare myself for any future challenge ahead I loved my time as a college athlete in college, so I want to take advantage of my entire eligibility.

From an athletic point of view, I would love to compete at the highest level possible to improve myself as an athlete. As a competitive person, I would like to win at least one championship.
As a student, I aimed to finish my postgraduate degree as good as possible. I did achieve that academic goal with a master’s degree at Upper Iowa (GPA 4.0). However, I have not yet reached my athletic goals, and I am not the type to quit when the going gets tough.
I have learned to love the USA in the past two years. As long as possible, I want to continue to gain experience as a player and then devote myself to coaching again.

As a soccer player, I aim to play professionally. Also, a good education is key to having the chance to pursue a successful career outside of the pitch. The college system in the US offers an extraordinary chance to pursue these two goals simultaneously. Throughout my life, I experienced sports as a unique connector of people from different places with different cultures and beliefs. This intercultural exchange via sports allowed me to make friends from all across the world. I’m very much committed to continuing this sport of cross-cultural understanding on a professional level. I have seen and experienced many things in my young years. If I have to sum it up in one sentence, then I would say that my life goal is to be happy, to build a family, and to stay connected to the sport of soccer forever.

Next to my pronounced passion for sports, I was always committed to different social projects in my local community. During my school time, I supported our local church as an altar boy and the fire brigade of my home village as a volunteer firefighter and as spokesperson of the under 18y firefighters. Furthermore, I was actively involved in organizing a weekly get-together for elderly people in my hometown and coaching different soccer youth teams. Altogether, I’m very much committed to all sorts of community activities that allow for cross-age and intercultural dialogue. Back in 2014, I have been working as a gap staff member in Australia at All Souls St. Gabriels School for approximately eleven months. My duties have included teacher aide work throughout the School, accompanying staff on School excursions, dormitory duties in the School´s male boarding dormitories, academic and sport coaching, and some activities in the School´s kitchen.
I still benefit from this time.
After successfully completing my Uefa B license last summer, I moved to Hawaii to coach different age groups for the Kona Crush Soccer Academy. I am grateful for this unique experience I have day after day with my players on and off the field.
