Center Back, Midfielder

In England, there are no ‘Soccer Honors’ like there are in America. However, I have played 8 years of academy football here which is a massive achievement and have featured in U19 and U23 games for my current club, Woking FC.

– Captain of U13, U14, U15 and U16 AFC Wimbledon team
– Captain of U11 and U12 Aldershot Town FC team
– Captain of school foot-ball teams each year since 9 years old
– Have competed well in U19 and U23 fixtures as an U17 (this year).

– National Schools 6-aside soccer runners up (2013)
– U15/U16 runners up in a heavily competitive academy league in England in which we lost one game all season.

– National biathlete (running and swimming – 2012)
– National 800m athletics champion (2012)
– National Triple Jump athletics runner up (2013)
– National 400m runner, long jumper and hurdler (2011-2013)
– Competed to a county level for swimming when I was 12/13 until I began to specialize in Soccer.

Interview

Having gained 8 years of experience in England’s highly competitive academy system, I think that I will be a strong asset to any college team; particularly because of my passion and hunger to make it as a soccer player. Not only am I talented in the sport, but my academic results show that I am a top-grade student and will be sure to keep it that way. Being a natural leader, I always step up to positions of responsibility and am more than happy to lead a team, helping others, as well as myself, to further improve by setting a good example at all times – on and off the pitch. Coupled with my deter-mined and driven attitude, I think that I have the necessary characteristics, traits and ability/talent to push myself to the next level and make a career out of the game.

I would love to compete in college soccer because I think it opens up a fantastic opportunity to players like myself who want to pursue a career in the game while balancing academic studies alongside – giving myself a back-up plan if needed. Also, the support and coaching that I will receive while at college will massively benefit me, helping not only my fitness, ability and leadership skills, but will further help me to continue to mature and continue to develop key features to life, such as discipline and teamwork skills.

My aim at college is to be a regular starting player at a Division 1 NCAA college, looking to captain the team after my first or second year and at the same time achieving the highest grades in my studies.

Ever since I was a young boy, my one dream was always to become a professional soccer player and I wanted to do everything I could to achieve that. Most recently, this idea of doing everything I could is evident as I have had to make many sacrifices in the last couple of years to give myself the best chance at this, and have worked in-credibly hard on losing weight, getting faster, doing extra technical work and gym work when not at training. Since the age of 14, I have always had the desire to play outside of England which is why I am extremely excited to potentially get to the USA. Regarding my life goals, obviously I would like to utilize my ability to make a proper career out of soccer but I am very interested in Sports Science, Sports Technology and Kinesiology due to my heavy involvement in sport as I have been growing up, so this is another option that I would be keen to keep in mind and work hard for. I have also toyed with the idea of managing my own restaurant for example, though I know this will take a lot more practice before I am ever close to this – most likely a job to look at after hopefully a career in soccer!

I thoroughly enjoy watersports such as wakeboarding and knee-boarding and have grown up doing both recreationally. I am pas-sionate about cooking, hence the head chef at a restaurant idea, and also anything to do with fitness (e.g. personal training and self-improvement through physical activity. I am relatively skilled at writing poetry too, winning a national poetry competition and a school’s one as well. Another strong interest of mine is mountain biking, something which I have loved ever since I can remember and still do now, regularly going out on my bike and exploring new trails.
