OKWU from Polk State College

NAIA
My name is Leona and friends call me Leo. Its funny because Leo is the german short form for goalie catch the ball. I’m playing soccer since I was 5 years old and I’m still burning for my sport. I’m proud being the first GK in a male U19 male Team.

Interview

I am not a very quiet person at all. But when I enter the pitch it seems like I am changing my personality one more time. I have always lead the teams from the Goalkeeper position. Most times the couches gave me the captain´s armband.
I´m loud and my fellow players know that the match is over when the referee pipes and they can’t hear me anymore.
Furthermore I never give up and I always work hard to reach my objectives.

The college sports system in the US is unique in the world and gives me the opportunity to continue competing at a high level while studying. I have been on a sport school before and I like the changing challenges between learning and sport competitions. It is a huge step in my life but it helps me in my future profession and generally it strengthen my personality.

I want to successfully obtain my academic degree in International Business or International Management.
In my future profession I want to work with international partners and living in the USA for a while could be very important.

I want to gain experience in the USA and improve my English and soccer skills. In my opinion a scholarship would be the best opportunity to combine soccer and academic studies, in which I set myself high standards. I want to go on playing soccer because this is my big passion and it clears my mind in difficult situations. Additionally I want to have a good and international job. So it is very important to obtain a good degree.

I´m a German licensed referee and I completed the German Soccer Trainer C-Licence.
