When my parents decided to return to Germany, I was 9 years and had just started to play Little League Baseball. While disappointed I made the firm resolution to return to my home country one day as a collegial baseball player. I was determined to not only continuously improve my baseball game, but also perform well at school and achieve all required qualifications for college. When I was 14, I left my parents’ home to join a boarding school for sports to study and play baseball. For the last five years, this has been my top priority.
While it is my ultimate goal to become a professional baseball player, I do know that it requires enthusiasm, diligence, commitment and a certain amount of luck, which I cannot control. However. college baseball provides the exposure to talent scouts and with that the opportunity to advance my career.
College offers the unique opportunity to further my basefall career while achieving a college degree. While baseball is currently a major part of my life, I would also like to get a degree in the area of psychology.
In sports and particularly baseball, I would like to be able to play in the highest league possible according to my abiliy. After my sports career ends, I want to continue to work in a sport-related area, e.g. as a coach or any other function where I can help young athletes.
For the last few years, I have been dedicated to bettering myself in sports and academics working on finding the right balance between the two. Today I think this has become a state of mind and being an athlete has helped me in my academic studies more than anything else. While struggling at the beginning of my school life in Germany, my positive attitude and passion for baseball has motivated me to improve at school as well.
