I have been through a challenging swimming journey which gave me the inner strength, the determination and the resilience to persevere despite all obstacles in order to fulfill my potentials. I have the right physical abilities and talent. I persevere and I work extremely hard to achieve my goals. Every training, I ask myself whether I performed at my best and better than my best opponents. I also believe in empowering others and I never refrain from offering help and support to any of my team mates. With these skills, I believe I will have so much to add to the team. In addition to this, my academic results are very good which is an indication of how focused and hard working I am.
Competing in college brings the best opportunities at all levels. It will expose me to the best coaching expertise, greatly build my network and enhance my sports and life experience and skills. This will pave the way for me to achieve my goals.
The USA offers great academic and athletic opportunities for ambitious athletes like me. I aim to join an academically great college with a competitive team where I will be able to thrive in my studies and swimming.
From an athletic perspective, I aim to be the best swimmer I possibly can while representing my country internationally. I would also like to be a role model in sports showcasing great sports ethics and values.
Academically, I plan to major in what I like the most (either finance or mechanical engineering). I aim to put the best in my studies in order to grasp a great job opportunity.
Despite all of this, I don’t like to limit myself by my goals and I always believe I can achieve more.
I started swimming at the age of 7 and up until the age of 13, I was the fastest
swimmer in Saudi Arabia where we used to live back then. I had a turning point at the age of 13. I participated in the Canadian Championships and I realized that I had a lot to achieve. For three years (13-16 years old) I trained alone with no coach, under the remote supervision of my Canadian coach. Though I was training with no teammates, with no direct coach supervision, and in very poor swimming conditions, I was able to achieve 4 B cuts for the Youth Olympics. At the age of 14, I broke two Long Course Canadian Provincial records. I was able to perform at my best at the age of 15 at the Canadian Junior Championships, where I swam a 57.73 in the 100 Back. My performance throughout the years has helped me achieve more than 50 Lebanese age group and national records. As I was turning 16, the load became bigger and handling it on my own was not easy. I also suffered from severe setbacks like prolonged pneumonia. Despite this, I picked myself up, persevered and represented Lebanon at the Junior World Championships in Budapest in 2019. To further fulfill my potentials, I took one of the toughest decisions and I moved on my own to Mount Kelly College where I was able to finally train with a coach and team mates. I worked very hard and in a very short period of time, I was able to improve quickly. Though many athletes might struggle with the current pandemic situation, the skills I gained whilst training on my own have helped me to positively deal with the situation and to keep on finding solutions.
