Interview

Everyone faces challenges. However, while some people are afraid of them, or may be able to adequately face them, I actively seek challenges. Having moved internationally to multiple different countries throughout my schooling years, and most recently travelling from Australia to Germany in order to pursue my Footballing career without a second doubt, I make a point to live my life outside of the comfort zone. After all, growth is one of the biggest things I seek, and what’s better for growth than adversity? The greater the challenge, the greater the reward.

I want to compete in the US college program because not only am I passionate about deeply immersing myself in the most prestigious and rigorous academic environment possible, but I have an even stronger drive to to win a championship! I believe that the college system is the best place for me cultivate my love for soccer and to improve in an environment that shares my passion for the sport, will allow me to create new relationships, and will open up opportunities for my career to progress in the future.

My goals in US college include:
– studying at a highly prestigious academic university.
– being an integral starting player in a competitive university soccer team.
– developing personally as an individual, including pushing the limits of my grit and exercising
independence as well as co-operativeness.
– Exploring a setting or environment outside of my comfort zone to broaden my horizons and
world view.
– Immersing myself in a different culture and way of life than what I am used to.

Ever since I discovered my love for the game, my mind has been set towards playing soccer. Should I be unable to accomplish this goal, I fervently hope that in whatever path my life or career takes, soccer will be an integral part of it.

With one English and one Australian parent, and having moved countries 6 times throughout the first 18 years of my life following my birth in Hong Kong, adaptability has become one of my most refined skills. As such, I know I would be able to easily adjust to the conditions of college life in America, and am inspired by the opportunity. My adaptability also translates usefully to my game on the field, as I have played every position, including goalkeeper, and in particular am very comfortable in any defensive position (despite Center Back being my natural position).
