Everybody is created equal in God’s eyes, but not everyone uses their gifts to glorify him. When I started playing sports, I experienced the motivation of how someone can achieve their goals with hard-work. Becoming better and fighting my battles were the two things that helped me survive in something I feel passionate the most: volleyball. In those days, when I started growing better and better at volleyball, I realized where my motivation came from: my creator, my one and only God. My passion, confidence, and eagerness to become a salient athlete were the qualities that lead me to where I am now. Since that day, I never subdued to anything that made me stop believing in myself, building my self-confidence, and saying to everything “yes, I can!”
Competing in college will open a lot of doors in my life. It is a privilege and a dream come true for an athlete to become part of a university that can offer the possibility to play a sport at a sustainable level and also study for a major to succeed in life. The reason that I want to compete in college is because it is a community where people from different countries with different cultures help you grow as an athlete by sharing different values and techniques that they have been learning throughout their life. And lastly but not less important to make new friends, those friends that someone can count on knowing that they will be there for you in good and bad moments.
My goal in college is achieving the greatest amount of knowledge possible by studying with optimism, and also continue to grow in my sport by challenging myself everyday. As well as getting to know other cultures and lifestyles to improve my cultural background.
In my sport, acquiring new techniques and methods from different coaches will help me gain the experience that I desire to refine my volleyball skills. Academically speaking, with dedication and persistence my goal will be to own a business in my home country. My other goal is to improve my second language, English, because knowing a second language is essential. Finally, becoming a person with integrity, honor, respect, and above all else be a better person in Christ, so I can inspire others through my beliefs and actions.
